Flooring weekend #2 day 2

As you can tell by the pictures we busted some ass on Sunday!! We got almost everything done!! We have maybe 10 more feet on the hallway and then the stairs, which we plan to do next weekend. I guess it just took us a day to get the hang of everything. Plus I helped a lot on Sunday I cut all boards on his new miter saw!! (and I didn't cut any fingers off)!! My rugs came in from Brylane home! which is in the first picture! 3 rugs for 129 which I used a 40% off coupon! what a deal!! And to top everything off on Sunday we stopped by home depot to see what you are suppose to use for doorways with wood floors, we knew they made laminate pieces but had never looked for wood moldings. Well while we were at home depot searching we found that yes they make wood moldings to match the floors great!! well that is it would be great if we would have bought them at the same time as the floor, the floor was 1/2 price and discontinued. If they don't have the moldings no one will!! NOOOOoooooooo! But as we were there trying to find moldings that looked similar Jason picked up and said "huh this is the angliam" (our wood) and I walked down the aisle a little more and found another one whoo hoo 2 more to find. As it so happens I go to the end aisle where they put stuff they try to get rid of and found the 2 we needed which so happens to be the last 2 they had!!!! YES!! They were a little high $26 but we thought they were worth not having to stain!so up we went to the self-check out lane you know the one that talks back to you and makes you feel stupid. Well we rang the first one up and it said ten dollars. thats right 10 dollars!! I was so shocked that we got our floors moldings and all for $1,600 when we had people quote us at $10,000!! Well I will post more as we do more!!

Flooring weekend #2 day #1

Day one was Saturday. Jason stayed home and worked on the floor all day, while I went to work till 3 and then came home and worked all night. Jason rented a flooring gun and air compressor (*Christmas idea*) he loved the compressor!! We didn't get much done the first day as you can see in the picture, we were still trying to get the hang of what to do. this is our first real wood flooring adventure. We did take a few breaks, to visit icanhascheezburger.com to look at all those funny pics!! By the end of the day 1 we could barely move due to our broken backs from leaning over!!!

Pups flooring weekend #1

During a long hardworking weekend the pups felt they needed to help in every way they could. So as you can tell they slept in every place they could find!! They slept on the chairs while we got the flooring ready, they slept on the back deck looking at the trees change colors and the squirrels running along the fence line. And to top everything off Bonnie tried to sleep on the deck loveseat, but as you can tell from the picture her butt didn't quite fit!!

the flooring weekend #1

This weekend has been very busy!! We ripped up the carpet, pretty easy; then we moved on to the kitchen vinyl flooring. The sheet of vinyl came up ok with a lot of tugging and Jason heating it with his heat gun. The problems began with what was under the vinyl, an extra layer of plywood underlayment which the builder thought needed to be stapled down with at least 2,000 staples (I'm not exaggerating)!! So after we fought the staples and got the plywood up I had to go back and take a sharp hook tool that looks like Jess would use in surgery and get all the little pieces of plywood that was stuck under all those staples. After all that we got to take some frustration out on those staples by hammering them back down with the sledge hammer!! We quickly swept up the dust and Jason started on the tar underlayment for the wood floors which he added another 2,000 staples to our floor! It was a new tool which he had way too much fun with, now I know why there were so many staples in the plywood (cause a man put it in with his little staple hammer)!
And somehow in between all that work Jason worked Saturday and Sunday!! He needs some sleep and food!!
love ya all!!

Oops!

Uh-Oh!! I guess we have added another project to stairs. We are going to tear out the old solid banister and continue the wrought iron at the the top of the stairs down! This was decided when Jason got home from work at 10:00 last night and said I don't like this stupid banister, I want it all open!! KICK!!!!! and so it begins... we have decided we are going to start putting the floor down this weekend. and pulling up the rest of the carpet tonight!! YEAH!!!!!

The Fence

we now have happy puppies!! The yard that couldn't be tamed is now fenced!!! Clyde never wants to come in and Bonnie never wants to go out!! Thanksgiving will be a lot less stressfull now that the pups have a place to roam and wont be all cramped up all week!! I just hope the weather stays as nice as it has been. keep your fingers crossed!!

A New Project!

Well it didn't take us long to start a new project!! HARDWOOD FLOORING! We bought the flooring yesterday, so in a week we can start putting it down if I rip up the carpet fast enough! They say the flooring needs to sit in the room your going to install it for a week to get it use to the moisture conditions and such. So I started ripping today(Clyde observed while bonnie slept) yes thats her in the brown blur on the top of the stairs, I don't know what it takes to get her excited. I'll post more pics as we get things done!

We're Back!!

Yes Yes with no further ado, We are back!! Internet and bloggers beware:) This will be our new co-blog. That way I don't have to post things twice!! We will post any and everything important in our lives!! So enjoy!!
