The Final Project! (super mario brothers cake)

This is the grooms cake!! I thought it turned out pretty good! The only bad thing was the fondant was a little wavy, which I had never had that happen before so I wasn't prepared. But all in all I thought it was a pretty big hit!! hope you enjoy the pics!!!

I made this cake for jasons work its going to be the lower level of jon's cake, thought i could use the practice!!!

In case you were wondering this is what my end goal is, Jons grooms cake for the wedding!!! I'm having a few problems finding a tall peach so if anyone sees one please let me know. Nintendo world in nyc sells her shes about 5in tall!! i can't even find it on ebay!! i ordered one and she turned up being 2in tall which will not work!! thanks for the help.

Can you believe this was my first try!! I am finally thinking I can do this and its gonna be good!!! YAY!! tell me what you guys think, I still have to practice those shells and the mushroom :)

rolled fondant

heres cake number 2 i've been trying to get the background on the bottom layer of jon's cake down. this is the first try so i think its pretty good for that. next thing to practice is the shells, i need to get some more tools for those so maybe next week!!

first fondant cake!!!

Well as you can see I have started the practicing for Jons grooms cake. not that there will be a lot of flowers on it, but I just wanted to try working with the fondant and gumpaste. This cake took me about 8 hours to do, so I need to work on my time a little bit since this is only a 6in single layer cake! :) oh well it was fun. the next one i'm going to try to do a rolled fondant to put over the whole cake, this seems easy but I bet its harder than it looks!
